The election of Abu Dhabi to host the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena) headquarters demonstrated the country's constructive approach in combating global warming.
The completion and launch of the Dubai Metro's first phase and the opening of other major roads and bridges across the country marked the UAE's continuous efforts to improve infrastructure.
The year that has just passed is considered a major landmark for the UAE.
Along with great achievements came some unfortunate events, such as a plane crash in Sharjah which killed six and the trucks crisis occurring again on the Al Ghuwaifat border.
