The Pullman Dubai Mall of the Emirates is the latest addition to Dubai's list of city hotels. Linked to one of the city's iconic shopping malls, the five-star property offers 481 rooms, including 94 suites.

Though Pullman is an upscale business hotel with business facilities available at various points in the hotel, including free Wi-Fi in the lobbies (internet facilities are on payment basis in the rooms), on a recent weekend outing, it seemed more of a family holiday retreat with little children running around.

I had the opportunity to share a junior suite (priced at Dh1,430 plus taxes on twin sharing basis, including breakfast) with my 14-year-old daughter, who was quite taken in with the en-suite glass-enclosed bathtub. The rooms are, however, furnished in a contemporary yet functional manner.

Attached to the Mall of the Emirates, not just trade visitors but families too have fun spending their time shopping or at Ski Dubai or the cinemas.

The fifth floor is actually the hotspot of the hotel with the bars and restaurants. Interesting places to visit here are the Soda Box — a retro-style ice-cream parlour that also offers cotton candy, pastries, light snacks and soft beverages 24 hours a day — and the hotel's signature multicuisine restaurant Sanabel that also offers al fresco seating on the terrace.

The Sanctuary Spa and Pool on the 24th floor presents splendid views all around and also houses a state-of-the-art health club, spa (read more on page 4), salon and outdoor pool.

Just a short walk away from the MOE metro station, the property is a trendy business hotel. However, it also promises loads of fun for a family weekend for visitors from other emirates and the region.
