Invented in 1928, the Jaeger-Lecoultre Atmos clock has been an object of desire for over nine decades. Over the years the Atmos has garnered reputation as more than just a stunning timepiece; it is widely lauded for its strong aesthetic identity. Now, for 2022, Jaeger-LeCoultre has revealed an entirely new design: the Atmos Infinite.

Naturally, this being a contemporary clock, the Atmos has been reinterpreted for the 21st century. It has purity of lines, which is further complemented by the exceptional transparency and minimalism. Viewed from any angle, the mechanism appears to float within its glass cabinet. This visual drama is achieved thanks to supports that are almost invisible.

The new Atmos Infinite retains the timeless elegance that’s expected from the brand, with the classical Art Deco “glass box” cabinet for the 21st century.

“The aesthetic of the Atmos is defined by the distinctive shape of its movement. With its complete absence of visual distraction, the seamless glass cabinet gives full value to the Atmos mechanism, which appears to float freely within it,” explains Lionel Favre, Jaeger-LeCoultre Design Director.

True to form, the clock’s function is minimalist: Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 570 is an hoursand-minutes movement. While the construction evokes fine watchmaking, it is pared back. There are several finishes, including brushed surfaces, polished edges and Côtes de Genève stripes.

The main dial, meanwhile, is lacquered black and consists of two concentric circles, which feature polished baton-shaped indexes. The look is further complemented by hands that match the silvery rhodium finish of the mechanism.
