After launching for Android in 2023, release lets users switch two accounts in one app
Messaging giant WhatsApp has officially introduced native multi-account support for iPhone users, closing a long-standing gap with its Android counterpart.
According to the announcement, iOS users will now be able to add up to two accounts on the same device. Each account maintains its own chats, notifications, profile settings and privacy preferences — and users can switch between them via a new 'Account List' in the Settings menu.
The feature is currently rolling out in beta testing on iOS version 25.34.10.72 and above. Previously, Android users had enjoyed similar multi‐account support since 2023.
From a user perspective, this update allows one-device management of both personal and work accounts — without resorting to a second phone or using the WhatsApp Business app as a workaround. Notifications clearly label which account receives a message, and authentication measures like Face ID or Touch ID apply when switching between secured accounts.
Industry watchers view the move as a response to evolving user behaviour, where individuals manage multiple phone numbers or roles from a single device. It also places WhatsApp in closer alignment with competitor features in messaging apps that already support multiple profiles.
While the official public release date has not yet been confirmed, testers and early-access users are reporting the new functionality in select regions. Users who depend on multiple account usage will likely benefit soon. The rollout aligns with WhatsApp’s broader evolution toward greater flexibility, simultaneously managing accounts, linked devices and privacy.
