A special concert on the UAE’s highest peak will treat fans of classical music and rock to a special two-day gig planned at Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah, on May 4 and 5.

The Rock vs Classic concert will witness live performances by Moscow’s symphony orchestra and several rock legends, including former Chicago frontman Bill Champlin, Toto’s lead singer Bobby Kimball and Dave Bickler, the former lead of Survivor.

Grammy-winner Champlin, whose career dates back to the 1960s, is best remembered for his track Hearts in Trouble from the Tom Cruise film Days of Thunder. Bickler shot to fame when Eye of the Tiger became the theme song for Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky III. Meanwhile, Kimball’s Rosanna and Africa command airplay on the radio even today.

The concert will be directed by award-winning artist and conductor Vladimir Rylov and will take place at an altitude of 1,600 metres on a specially-constructed stage at Jebel Jais.

Tickets for the concert start from Dh300. Shuttle buses, priced at Dh10, will ferry ticket holders to the concert from the RAK Chambers Building from 4pm. The concert starts at 7.30pm. Pre-registration is required.
