Dubai: The UAE's No 1 snooker player Mohammad Shehab suffered a shock defeat to Bahrain's Habib Subah on day two of the 15th Gulf Apparel Snooker Championship.

Subah almost completely dominated Shehab to win by four frames to one.

It was only a couple of years ago that Subah held the position of No 4 in the Asian Snooker circuit and was also a quarter-finalist at the Amateur World Snooker level.

However, order was restored for the UAE by Mohammad Al Joker who thrilled the crowd when he beat his Saudi Arabian opponent by five frames to nil. Al Joker displayed exceptional positioning to record a thumping victory.

In the Junior Snooker event UAE's snooker protege Khalid Ali Kamali gave yet another brilliant performance to down his Bahraini opponent four frames to one. Kamali has been performing with flying colours and looks set to defend his title.

Abdul Rahman Saif, another new arrival to the UAE national team, also thrilled the packed house with a great performance.

The maturity he displayed proves he will be one of the strong favourites to land the 6 Red Ball title.

It was also a lucky day for the UAE team who beat Bahrain 4-1. The win was due to a solid effort by Ahmad Abdul Khader who scored a last frame victory over his Bahraini opponent.

It was a praiseworthy performance and the seven-frame match took almost four and half hours to be completed.
