Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi conglomerate Al Fahim has announced a three-year deal with the UAE Triathlon Federation. The agreement will see both parties work to increase the number of swim, bike and run events and participants nationwide.

With the support of Al Fahim, the federation is aiming to have as many as 3,500 athletes of all ages line-up for the 2019 edition of the ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi on Yas Island.

Regular events attract both amateur and elite athletes locally, but more youngsters are now taking part. Last year, more than 300 children competed in the junior level of the ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi, more than double the number from the inaugural event in 2015.

Al Fahim has previously partnered with Abu Dhabi Sports Council to help continue the success of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, the Abu Dhabi Cycling Tour and the Mubadala Tennis Championships, among others.
