Dubai: Mohammad Boota and Abid Chaudhury have displayed tremendous form in domestic tournaments. Boota, who cracked an unbeaten 174 for Noor Al Yemen in the Shijana Cricket Cup, scored 57 runs off just 40 balls with four boundaries and two sixes for Alubond Tigers in the first match of Junoon Cup Season in Ajman.

Chaudhury, who plays for Nad Al Sheba (NAS) in the League of Mammoths organised by Dubai Cricket Council, after smashing a whirlwind 62 from 28 balls against Jumeirah Mammoths a few days ago, scored a century and also took three wickets against Dubai Red Knights.

NAS won the toss and despite knocks from Yuvraj Kurup (22), Devrajan Srinivasan (15) and Naeem Mohammad (20), they were not able to accelerate the run rate. Coming out to bat at No. 6 Chaudhury, who was a former Yogi Group Cricket Club player, whipped the Red Knights bowlers and scored 100 off just 56 balls with seven sixes and six fours to help the team post 224 for 8 in 25 overs. Chasing the target, Red Knights were restricted to 179 for 9 despite Bharath Menon’s (32) and Mohit Arora (25).

In another match, Zabeel Mammoths trounced Jumeirah Mammoths by 63 runs. Shiva Pagarani bagged three wickets. Zabeel posted 170 runs and later restricted Jumeirah to 114.

In Ajman, Alubond Tigers bt Orakzai by 65 runs. Alubond after posting 163 for 7 in 20 overs restricted Orakzai to 98 through Alubond bowler Asif Mumtaz, who took 4 for 27, backed by Nasir Aziz and Fayyaz Ahmad with three wickets each.
