Doha: The bowling team capped a successful day for the UAE delegation in the 12th Arab Games late on Wednesday when they finished the day by winning the bronze medal of the Teams Event to add to the gold and two silver medals the UAE athletes won earlier in the day.

The day started with the women's shooting team winning the gold of the 25m Pistol Teams competition and the silver of the Singles in the same competition by Sumaya Al Meshaiei then Ayesha Al Blooshi won the silver medal of weightlifting before the day ended with the bronze of the bowling.

Shaker Ali and Nayef Ogab at last started showing their true worth and led their younger colleagues: Mahmoud Al Attar, Hussain Al Suwaidi and Jamal Ali to win the bronze medal scoring a total of 5719 behind Bahrain who won the gold with 5853 and Qatar, the silver medal winner, with 5817.

Shaker scored 1209 series( six games) with an average of 201.5 followed by Ogab with 1173 (average of 195.5), Al Suwaidi 1138 (189.7), Jamal 1113 (185.5) and Al Attar 1086 (181).

Sayed Ebrahim Al Hashimi did not take part in the Teams Event but his score helped him to enter the Masters competition, the last in the bowling program, together with his other colleagues: Shaker, Ogab, Al Suwaidi and Al Attar as the UAE takes part with five players, one more than Qatar who has four players in the Masters. Only Jamal did not make it to the Masters competition.

Table tennis

Meanwhile, the table tennis team exited from the singles as Jasem Al Linjawai lost in the round of 16 to Morocco's Mounaime Tirsel 4-2 ( 6-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-5, 12-14 & 11-2). Rashid Abdul Hamid beat Kuwaiti Salem Al Hassan 4-0 in the same round (11-9, 11-2, 11-4 & 11-9) before losing to Saudi Arabian Khalid Al Harbi 4-1 in the quarter finals ( 9-11, 11-13, 11-9, 6-11 & 12-14) to end their campaign in the Games with the bronze of the teams.
