Dubai: The Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Sports Tournament will go global this Ramadan after agreements were signed between Dubai Sports Council (DSC), Egypt’s Olympic Committee and Jordan’s Volleyball Federation.

Organised annually by DSC during the Holy Month of Ramadan under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of DSC, the tournament has grown in popularity over five years and is now ready to engage larger audiences in its sixth year thanks to the tie-ups.

The agreements were signed by DSC secretary general Saeed Hareb, Egypt Olympic Committee secretary general Ahmad Al Arian and Basheer Ahmad Al Alwan, deputy president of the Jordan Volleyball Federation.

As part of the agreement, an eight-team five-a-side futsal competition will take place at the indoor halls of Cairo Stadium from the seventh to 11th day of Ramadan. And the Jordan Volleyball Federation will organise an eight-team volleyball tournament from the ninth to 16th day of Ramadan in Amman.

Both representatives agreed this tie-up was confirmation of deep-rooted bilateral relations Egypt, Jordan and the UAE, established by the UAE’s late founding father Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is being honoured with the Year of Zayed, 100 years since his birth, this year.
