Ghantoot seek revenge in polo finals
Abu Dhabi: Hosts Ghantoot will be looking to win the Ghantoot Gold Cup polo championship and also take revenge on Team Emirates, who defeated them in the opening stages of the league.
Team Emirates defeated Ghantoot in the opening match despite a four goal effort by Oscar Colombres which failed to give Ghantoot the victory which they so desperately needed.
But in their Tuesday match against Horse & Course, it was their second pro player in the team, David Bernal who dazzled.
Bernal played a stellar role in Ghantoot's 4-2 win over Horse & Course in their league match and in the process, qualified for today's final to be played at the GRPC field.
It was Horse and Course who scored the first goal when Lucas Labat made no mistake with a splendid field goal but Bernal equalised when he put the ball between the posts off a 60-yard penalty.
Nasser Al Shamsi put Ghantoot ahead scoring the lone goal in the second chukka.
In the third chukka, Ghantoot were completely on top as they took a firm grip of the match.
Abdullah Bin Desmal opened his account and fellow Emirati made it 4-1 with his second goal of the match. Labat scored again for Horse & Course but soon after Bernal completed his hat-trick. Two quick goals by Bernal fired Ghantoot ahead as the score became 6-2.
After the five-goal flurry in the third chukka it was a low-key final chukka and Bernal completed his four-goal effort while their rivals made their exit with two successive defeats.
Ghantoot's team for today's final will have Nasser Al Shamsi (handicap 2), Abdullah Bin Desmal (1), Oscar Colombres (5), David Bernal (6).
