Dubai: French Open champion Coco Gauff has always preferred to stay relatively quiet about her personal life.

The American tennis star had earlier hinted at having a boyfriend in many interviews but had chosen not to disclose his identity until recently.

Fans who were particularly curious to stitch together the clues made lot of efforts to identify the mystery man behind the 21-year-old's love life.

However those speculations came to an end during a promotional video with a top company specialising in audio equipment.

Among the many messages she was made to hear there was a surprise message from her boyfriend Jalen Sera.

"Just wanted to say you're the absolute coolest person ever. I'm so proud of you. You're doing great, and I love you," the message said.

Hearing that, Gauff immediately confirmed the relationship status and said: "That's my boyfriend, and today's actually our two-year anniversary. So, that's very nice. Aww, he didn't tell me about that."

Sera is an Atlanta-based musician based in North Carolina. He has appeared in a mini-series titled Honest T and has acted in multiple short films, including Telensia, City of AI and Troll.

He was a fourth-grade student of Coco’s mother, Candi Gauff. Sera and Gauff reconnected upon growing up and began dating.

In an interview with Time last year, Gauff said she was dating someone outside of tennis but chose not to reveal his identity.

Even after her post-match conference after her US Open 2023 triumph, Gauff had shared that she sought solace in late-night conversations with her supportive partner, helping her stay grounded and focused on her game.

During an interview with People magazine last year, Gauff said that while she enjoys sharing certain aspects of her life, she values keeping some things private, as it allows her to maintain control and personal boundaries.

“I think I felt like I just, some parts of myself I love to share, and then some parts I think I just keep to myself. And I think that’s just the beauty of it all, that people still know me and know parts of me, but not everything. So I do feel like my life is a little bit in my hands too,” Gauff said.
