Stephan Muller caused another major upset as the unseeded youngster beat second seed Jimmy Poon to advance to the men's singles final of the 6th Dubai Shopping Festival [DSF] Open Tennis Championships, being played at the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina.

Muller made the all important service break in the first set and held his own to clinch the first set 6-4. With the first set under his belt, the youngster's confidence grew and Poon had no reply to his consistency and power to finish the set 6-0.

Muller will now face second seeded Ali Sharif, after the player from Al Wasl Club defeated Hassan Al Sharif 7-6, 6-0.

The ladies singles saw another upset when teenager Emily Leenen made her first women's singles finals by defeating second seeded Melanie Colonoval 6-4, 6-3.

In the women's doubles, the top-seeded pairing of Janice Tilbrook and Agnes Anwar advanced to the final with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash against Raya Al Dimashky and Cynthia Camazzini. They will now meet Simona and Olivia Nichols, who beat Shobha Mendonca and Vidya Magnanhi 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Boys' under-12: Malek Derder bt Mohammad Al Mansouri 6-0, 6-0.

Boys' under-14: Aleksa Ilich bt Hani Al Sa'adi 6-4, 6-0; Faisal Bastaki bt Murad Awad 6-3, 6-2.

Girls' under-12: Kate Sa'adi bt Maryam Behroozian 6-0, 6-0.
