Dubai: World number three Andy Murray says winning an Olympic gold medal is on par with a Grand Slam title and wants three shots at success during the Summer Games tournament.

The talented Scotsman will play the singles, doubles and mixed doubles during the event which will be held at Wimbeldon, and he hopes that he can cash in on the home advantage.

"I just can't wait for the Olympics," he said at the Burj Al Arab prior to playing in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships starting today. "I was at Beijing but played really badly.

Incredible experience

"Playing in the Olympics is definitely one of the best experiences of my sporting career and to be around all the different athletes is an incredible experience.

"I'm really looking forward to London and given that the matches will be played at Wimbledon, I really hope that I can do well."

Murray is likely to partner with Colin Flemmings, who is in the Top 20, but says that he would have loved to play with his brother Jamie.

"Colin and Ross (Hutchins) are both good friends, so I'm really looking forward to that. I'd feel bad if I chose Jamie over Colin, as I don't want to take the opportunity away from them."
