Dubai: The second-seeded pair of Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina earned the right to meet top seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond in the doubles final at the Dubai Duty Free Women’s Open late on Friday.
Playing on centre court after rank outsider Julia Goerges of Germany had dumped defending champion Caroline Wozniacki in the singles semi-finals, Mirza and Vesnina powered their way to a 6-2, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (11) win against Su-Wei Hsieh and Shuai Peng.
Earlier, 2011 US Open champions Raymond and Huber had powered their way past Nuria Llagostera Vives and Anastasia Rodionova 6-3, 6-2 in exactly 61 minutes.
The doubles final will be at 5 pm on Saturday followed by the singles final between Goerges and Agnieszka Radwanska at 7 pm.
