If you really want to make it in tennis, work hard for it and get as much as possible get competitive experience as you can. The more tournaments the better.

Who is your sporting role model?

Novak Djokovic. Off court he doesn’t seem to take anything too seriously. He seems friendly and relaxed, but on court, of course, he’s a great player.

What is your ultimate ambition in sport?

I’m aiming for a top-200 ITF world ranking at Under-18 age level and top-500 in the men’s ATP world rankings. It will be hard because I haven’t played a men’s event yet.

What got you into your sport?

My dad Hermano used to play tennis with his friend and took me on court aged six and just started firing some balls at me, until one day a coach spotted me.

At what moment did you get serious about a career in sport?

I didn’t really know I had talent until people said so and I started to believe them and push myself more. The Qatar ITF Junior Open, where I was runner-up in the singles and won the doubles, was a major confidence boost.
