Dubai: Eureka Group Sailing Team/Easy Property Group emerged as the surprise leader of Division 3 after the penultimate day of the Maktoum Sailing Trophy the UAE's premier sailing competition.

The EGST/ EPG sailing team, which includes 20 year old, Italian Niccolo Bertola, is demonstrating top sailing skills and supreme focus in the high pressure environment surrounding the 2008 Maktoum Sailing Trophy.

Ian Simm, CEO of Easy Property Group, said: "After three days of racing, our EGST/ EPG yacht is tied for first place in Division Three, which is a welcome surprise to us with such a young team that has only been sailing together for three years.

"We are also delighted that our EGST Cougar is strongly holding onto its mid-table position after very competitive days of racing in Division One.

"The lack of wind has affected the Cougar team more than most as it is designed to exploit the high wind conditions prevalent in this region.

"However, after the 80 kilometre per hour shamal winds of last week, the coast has seen an extended unforeseen period of low wind speed.

"This has slowed down the Cougar team considerably but we are hopeful of the winds picking up soon helping us maintain our position in Division Three and challenge the leading pack in Division One."
