After a list of unending achievements, it is time for Yevgenia Kanayeva to give back to her sport. However, not everyone understands this, her husband included.

“He [husband Igor] argues with me all the time on how much time I spend with rhythimic gymnastics and how involved I am with my work. It’s just that I love my sport so much that I am willing to do everything to achieve what I want to now that I have the opportunity to give back,” Kanayeva told Gulf News.

“He [Igor] knew what he was choosing when we got married. He has to reconcile himself to what he has chosen. If he doesn’t go to play then it is not my fault,” she added.

Kanayeva married ice hockey player Igor Musatov on June 8, 2013, and their son Vladimir was born on March 19, 2014. “He [son] is not even four now, but he has already started going to swimming classes. He has also shown an interest in football and we are planning to send him for proper football training. And given that Igor is an ice hockey player, I am sure Vladimir will play some ice hockey,” Kanayeva related.

“After that, we will both decide what sport he is most comfortable with for a career,” she smiled.
