Dubai: The first race day of 2014, marking the halfway point in the 2013/14 UAE national racing season, takes place at Dubai Autodrome on Friday featuring NGK Series, UAE Superbikes and Formula Gulf 1000 events.

Kawasaki rider Abdul Aziz Bin Laden is the man to beat in the premier 600 class, having won five out of five races so far. Meanwhile, Kawasaki’s Alan Boyter, BMW’s Nasser Al Shaiba and Ducati’s Daimen van Blerk battle it out for honours in the non-championship 1000 class.

In the NGK Series, Seat’s Costas Papantonis faces stiff opposition from BMW’s Petr Valek and Marce Kusin. And in class two Renault’s Alexandros Annivas and Simon Dennis line up alongside Honda’s Jonathon Mullan and Abdul Hamid Al Awadi. This includes a race within a race as the two Renault driver’s battle it out for Clio Cup superiority.

Also on the bill will be two rounds counting towards the Formula Gulf 1000 championship, where top young drivers from the UAE and Asia will battle it out for victory in what is always a tight contest.

Action starts on the Autodrome’s National track configuration with the first free practice sessions at 9am, followed by the first qualifying at 10.10am and the first race at 11.05am.

Entry for spectators on the day is free, with access to the grandstands and paddock. Refreshments will be available at the Pitstop Lounge on the first floor of the pit garage complex.
