Dubai: The Dubai Autodrome Karting Team came a superb third out of 40 international participants in the recent 24-hour Le Mans race, which took place between September 29 and October 1.

The Dubai team, represented by Ahmad Al Kamda, Christophe Hissette, Ramy Azzam and Andy Boux started the weekend by setting a blistering pace as they dominated the qualifying session to set up the fastest lap time and grab pole position.

In the first hour of the race, the team managed to maintain its position but soon suffered mechanical problems and were unfortunate to be placed at the end of the grid.

But team spirit was very high and they were determined to fight to the end. A superb comeback helped them step on to the podium in a highly creditable third position.

Ahmad Al Kamda said: "The entire weekend was amazing, it was a fantastic feeling to be on pole; the race was very difficult but we were able to do a brilliant comeback and finish third. This is a very special moment for everyone in the team."

Meanwhile Team Dojomoto, racing under the name of Nivea For Men Endurance Dubai Championship, represented by Anjum Shaikh, Shahir Ahmad, Amit Kapoor, Shibli Shaikh and Mike Wilkes, qualified 25th on the starting grid and managed to finish 13th. Dojomoto Driver Anjum Shaikh said: "To finish 13th out of 40 is an excellent result. "This is our first race on an international level and we are quite satisfied with what we have achieved."
