Chennai youngster sets sights on Dubai Autodrome event

Dubai: Indian teenage sensation Armaan Ebrahim heads for Dubai to compete in the first round of the GP2 Asia Series at Dubai Autodrome.

Rising young Indian racing star Ebrahim will be joining David Price Racing (DPR) for the inaugural GP2 Asia Series.

Eighteen year-old Ebrahim from Chennai will be making his debut in a GP2 Asia race car with the team at the pre-season tests in staring this week, on 18 January at Dubai Autodrome, in preparation for the the Grand Racing weekend on 25 and 26 January, at the same venue.

Following in the footsteps of Narain Karthikeyan and more recently Karun Chandhok, Ebrahim is one of the most promising emerging talents in Indian motorsport.

Apart from being a quick and astute race driver, the Chennai youngster is proving to be an excellent role model for young Indians, proving that they can follow their dreams and have the chance to achieve at a high level.

Ebrahim, son of former Indian Formula Three champion Akbar Ebrahim, started his career in karting and became Formula LGB Champion in 2004.

He later moved to Formula BMW Asia for the 2005 season. During the same year he represented Team India in the A1GP Series for the first time, the youngest driver to race in the series.

He continued his racing during the summer in the UK, racing in the Formula Renault UK Championship, one of the most competitive junior formulas in the world.

In the 2007 season, he competed in the Formula V6 Asia Championship, winning five races and finishing runner-up in the driver's championship.
