Abu Dhabi: While the big teams like Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes have had relatively little financial trouble, the outfits at the lower end have to battle to keep themselves on the Formula One grid.

Caterham is one of these teams as they, along with Marussia, havr yet to score a single point in the constructors’ championship this season, putting a lot of pressure on themselves to just stay afloat.

Caterham are likely to retain French driver Charles Pic and Giedo Van Der Garde from the Netherlands for next season in the hope that their experience in 2013 will come in handy.

“A lot of teams are changing, including their drivers, and the sooner we can integrate and work together, the better it will be for next year,” said team principal Cyril Abiteboul.

“Consistency is a good thing, so one of the options is we continue with the two drivers, building on the relationship we have started.”
