Dubai: Saudi-based rider Abdul Aziz is expected to push hard in order to consolidate his position in Round 2 of the UAE National Superstock Bike Championship, organised by the Emirates Motor Sports Federation, which will be held at the Dubai Autodrome today.

The first race of the day will be held at 1.30pm while the second race will take off at 3.30pm.

Earlier this year, the second edition of the championship took off on October 27 where Abdul Aziz topped the podium in both races of Round 1.

In the first race of the day Abdul Aziz rode past the post 2.422 seconds ahead of last year's champion Canadian Grant Yake while South African Johnnie Pienaar came in third with Craig Muirhead and Rod Scott coming in fourth and fifth respectively.

In the second race of the day Abdul Aziz, who began on pole position, faltered at the start thereby conceding the lead to rival Yake.

However, coming into the fourth lap the young Saudi rider overtook Yake on the bend and maintained his lead thereafter.

From there on, Yake and Pienaar virtually rode shoulder-to-shoulder for the second place.

Abdul Aziz finished the race 10.298 seconds ahead of Yake while Pienaar came in third again, a little over 2 seconds behind the Canadian. The fourth and fifth positions were again taken by Muirhead and Pienaar respectively.

Indian rider Trivikram Singh Rathore failed to impress coming in 13th in the first race and 12th in second.
