Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Racing Junior driver Mohammad Al Mutawaa is looking forward to racing for the second time at Rallye d’Antibes, Round 2 of the seven-round Peugeot 208 Rally Cup, on tarmac, from May 19-20.
Known as ‘Little Mo’ among the racing fraternity, Al Mutawaa and co-driver Aaron Johnston will be behind the wheel of a Peugeot 208 R2.
And while the Abu Dhabi Racing junior driver has a good feeling ahead of the event having competed in the rally last year, he is aware that one of the challenges will be writing new chapters with his new young co-driver.
Leg 1 will comprise a total of 108.32km run over six stages while Leg 2 will have an equal number of stages over a distance of 96.06km.
“I’m looking forward to Antibes Rally. Having raced at the event last year, I am aware that this tarmac rally is challenging and demanding yet very tempting and enjoyable,” said Al Mutawaa ahead of the event.
“I’m happy working with Aaron. The two of us are learning fast, especially with respect to communicating with each other. Together we now look to translate our love and passion for the sport into good results during the course of the season. I would like to once again thank Abu Dhabi Racing chairman Shaikh Khalid Al Qasimi for his unflinching support.”
The 2018 Peugeot 208 Rally Cup is Peugeot Sport’s one-make trophy organised within the framework of the FFSA French Rally Championship. Based on the Peugeot 208 R2, the series is open to experienced, new drivers and teams alike.
Drivers aged less than 27 years old will be eligible for the top prize which will be a high-profile programme in a four-wheel drive car if they also come first in the overall standings. There is an additional motivation for drivers with the best-placed junior in the provisional order of Round 4 (Rallye du Rouergue) getting an invitation to attend the ERC Junior Experience programme.
