Terra de Lozère, France: Abu Dhabi Racing (ADR) junior driver Mohammad Al Mutawa finished a commendable second in class R3 at Rallye Terre de Lozère, the French Rally Championship, which ran from August 26-27.

Co-driven by Niall Burns, 24-year-old Al Mutawa overcame several challenges on his way to classifying in 18th overall while racing to second spot in class over the two-day event that covered a distance of 354.15km, which included 11 special stages (147.30 Km).

Al Mutawa, racing for the first time at the event, also won two of the stages (SS 7 and 8) and was very pleased with his efforts over the weekend.

The result might have been better had Al Mutawaa not lost precious time on Day 1 due to a dusty recce that affected the pace notes, but despite the challenging conditions he finished the day in second place.

On Day 2, the pace notes were perfect and the ADR Junior Rally Programme driver pushed hard, and with confidence on a high he won SS7 and SS8 to eventually bring his Citroen DS3 R3 home in 2nd place in class.

“It feels great to be on the podium in one of the French Rally Championship rounds. We had a great event. The pace notes were consistent and everything went perfectly for us on the stages. The car was fantastic and I must thank PH Sport for that,” said Al Mutawa adding that he is very happy with the way the weekend went for him.

“I’m looking forward to Mont-Blanc to learn more and go faster while being in control of the car. I would like to thank Shaikh Khalid Bin Faisal Al Qasimi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Racing for continuing to support and believe in me. Last but not the least, I would also like to thank Niall for the splendid work he did on the pace notes.”
