Dubai: The fifth edition of the Dubai International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship will be held at Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club from December 8 to 9.

Registration for the competition, which is held under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation Dubai and Chairman of the UAE National Olympic Committee (UAE NOC), closed on December 3.

The first day of the tournament will be dedicated to No Gi competitions, while the second day will feature Gi competitions, as per a release from the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAE JJF).

“We are confident the championship will witness closely-fought competitions, especially with the impressive line-up of established and well-regarded athletes participating,” Mansour Al Daheri, board member, UAE JJF, said.

The federation highlighted the importance of hosting the international event in Dubai, which has become a steady fixture on the federation’s annual agenda. The championship is important for the athletes as it counts towards the UAE JJF’s classification points.

Sponsored by Mubadala, Etihad Airways, Al Tayer Motors Land Rover, the Ministry of Interior, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Adnoc, Palms Sports, Emirates Global Aluminium, among others, the competition will be broadcasted on Abu Dhabi Sports TV.
