Chicago: Jacoby Ellsbury hit a home run with two outs in the 10th inning as the New York Yankees ended an eight-game losing streak at the Chicago White Sox with a 4-3 victory on Saturday.

The Yankees scored three times in the ninth against Ronald Belisario and then grabbed their first lead of the day when Ellsbury hit a drive to right off Zach Putnam (2-1) for his second homer.

Dellin Betances (3-0) pitched a perfect inning for the win and David Robertson finished for his 10th save in 11 chances, bouncing back nicely after yielding Adam Dunn’s game-ending homer in Chicago’s 6-5 victory on Friday night.

Also in the American League, Toronto pitcher A Dickey won for the third time in four starts and Brett Lawrie homered as the Blue Jays beat the Oakland Athletics 5-2.

The AL East-leading Blue Jays (28-22), who won for the 10th time in 12 games, have not been on top of the division this late into the season since July 6, 2000, when they were 46-40.

Kansas City’s Eric Hosmer equalled a season high with four hits and pinch-runner Jarrod Dyson scored the go-ahead run in the 13th inning off a throwing error by rookie reliever Mike Morin as the Royals won a for-hour, 53-minute marathon 7-4 over the Los Angeles Angels.

In other AL games, the Cleveland Indians blanked the Baltimore Orioles 9-0, the Houston Astros beat the Seattle Mariners 9-4, the Texas Rangers downed the Detroit Tigers 12-2 and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 6-5 over 15 innings.

In Atlanta, Michael Cuddyer and Troy Tulowitzki each hit home runs as the Colorado Rockies beat the Braves 3-1 in the Naional League.

The Rockies were without some of their big bats. Carlos Gonzalez missed his third straight start with a swollen finger and Nolan Arenado was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a broken finger.

Also in the NL, Josh Harrison had a tiebreaking, two-out single in the seventh inning after Jose Tabata hit a sacrifice fly as the Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Washington Nationals 3-2 for their fourth straight win.

Philadelphia pitcher David Buchanan threw five effective innings in his major league debut and Chase Utley hit a two-run homer to power the Phillies past the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3, while the Miami Marlins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 after Jacob Turner pitched six-and-a-third scoreless innings.

In other games, the St Louis Cardinals downed the Cincinnati Reds 6-3, the Chicago Cubs edged the San Diego Padres 3-2 and the Arizona Diamondbacks were 3-2 winners over the New York Mets. The San Francisco Giants beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 in an interleague game.
