Doha: Sudanese athlete Abu Bakr ‘Kaki' Khamis, who was expected to win gold in the 800-metre race, is unlikely to attend the Arab Games in Doha.

Senior officials in the Sudanese Athletics Federation said that Kaki will not be available for the games because he was asked by the IAAF (International Amateur Athletics Federation) to undergo anti-doping tests in Japan tomorrow, the scheduled start of athletics competition in the Arab Games.

Kaki is a two-time gold medallist in the IAAF Indoor World Championship in Valencia (2008) and Doha 2010. He won the silver medal in the 800 metres race in the last IAAF World Championship in Daegu in South Korea earlier this year and the doping tests are believed to be related to that race.

He is yet to join his colleagues despite attending a training camp in Oman to prepare for the games in Doha.
