Jones chosen to head new UAE powerboat series

Dubai: Mike Jones has been named the new general manager of Powerboat UAE, the Dubai-based company which holds the exclusive UAE license for the P1 SuperStock Championships, scheduled to be launched in the region for the first time later this year.

Jones’ tasks will include establishing a successful race series and overseeing the day-to-day happenings of the powerboating championship in Dubai.

Launched in London in 2010, the P1 SuperStock Championships is committed to promoting powerboating at all levels around the world. Its UAE debut will kick off in November and will run until February 2013, with up to four rounds of races scheduled to be held all over the nation, finishing in the capital Abu Dhabi.

With the P1 SuperStock Championship already well-developed in the United States and UK, there are also plans to take the sport to India, China and Brazil.

Jones has more than a decade of working in, managing and organising watersports. With Powerboat UAE, he will serve as the official representative for the P1 brand in the country.
