Dubai: Haritha Harinarayanan and Tina Tino beat Saima Waqas and Palwasha Bashir in straight sets 21-19, 21-12 to win the ladies’ doubles title in the 38th UAE Open India Club tournament. The title ensured a double crown for Harinarayanan, who also won the ladies’ singles title.

In the other finals match, in the super veterans’ doubles category (55 years and above), super veteran pair Lal Mony K S and Suresh Kumar beat Abdul Salam and Mustafa Therwath 21-17, 21-8.

As a part of India Club’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which is being extended to the UAE Open Badminton Tournament, blue colour workers from two companies in Dubai — Dulsco LLC & Emrill LLC — took part in the exhibition matches organised for them yesterday at India Club. This is the fourth consecutive year that India Club has a tie-up with companies in Dubai for CSR activity during the tournament.

Dulsco was represented by Salah Uddin, Sunit Kumar, Abul Bashar, Anisur Rahman and Anwar Hossain while Emrill LLC’s Akram, Abu Sayem, Rahim, Rakib, Jino and Balaji played the matches.

Exhibition matches were conducted for Special Needs’ individuals too. Medals, certificates and official tournament T-shirts were presented to the players at the end of the matches by Reena Bhatia, Vice-Chairperson, India Club.
