Greinke doubtful for MLB opener

Diamondbacks star could miss opening day with groin injury

Phoenix: Arizona Diamondbacks ace Zack Greinke may not be ready to start on Opening Day on March 29 due to a groin injury, manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Thursday.

Greinke was removed after one inning on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds when he felt tightness in the groin. The right-hander was slated to be stretched out with a five-inning stint before the setback.

“Zack went through a throwing program today, and he actually said he felt good, but we’re going to continue to be cautious through this whole process,” Lovullo said before Thursday’s game with the Chicago Cubs.
