Mickelson to miss LIV Golf Riyadh
The American is sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained during a recent gym session
Phil Mickelson has been sidelined with a minor shoulder injury sustained during a recent gym session, forcing him to miss the LIV Golf season opener in Saudi Arabia.
The 54-year-old confirmed the news on social media, expressing optimism about returning to action for next week’s event in Adelaide, Australia, at The Grange Golf Club.
"I'm definitely disappointed that I will miss the season opener, but I look forward to playing in Adelaide," he said.
In Mickelson's absence, Ollie Schniederjans will step in as part of the HyFlyers team, which is still chasing its first team victory in the LIV Golf League. The 31-year-old is a LIV Golf reserve for the 2025 campaign after the former amateur World No.1 narrowly missed out on his playing privileges at the Promotions event last December.
The American showcased his potential last weekend with a commanding four-shot victory at The International Series India, finishing ahead of U.S. Open champion and LIV standout Bryson DeChambeau.
