The first round will be played at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club on November 17
Dubai: Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa has again teamed up with the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) as the main sponsor of the Shaikh Rashid Trophy to be held at three different courses in Dubai early next month.
The first round will be played at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club on November 17, the second at The Els Club on November 18 while Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa will host the final on November 19.
The flagship event of the Emirates Golf Federation has grown in popularity over the years, attracting leading amateurs from the UAE, and also from Europe.
Open to amateur golfers holding a valid handicap of 18 or below, the 54-hole event follows the gross strokeplay format with the top 30 and ties making the cut after 36 holes.
"We have been the main sponsor of this very popular and prestigious golf tournament since its inception in 1998, and naturally we are delighted with our continued involvement," said James Williams, director of golf at Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa.
The tournament, he said, has always been well supported and enjoyed by both local and overseas players. "It's great to know that the three-round event will allow players a chance to earn points towards the R&A World Amateur Ranking System.
"The three courses will provide a fair test for all the competitors and with EGF Order of Merit points also up for grabs I have no doubt we can all look forward to a highly competitive tournament," he added.
Saeed Al Budoor, general manager of Emirates Golf Federation, lauded the support of Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa for their continued support and also thanked Gulf News and Ernst & Young for supporting the tournament.
