South American commentators are known for going mad when their team scores, but the Colombian man on the microphone took it to a whole new level on Saturday night.

When James Rodriguez unleashed his first-half thunderbolt against Uruguay, arguably the best goal of the World Cup so far, the man in the commentary hotseat completely lost it.

Listen to the commentary here:

Rodriguez is fast emerging as one of the leading stars of the World Cup, competing with the likes of Argentina's Lionel Messi, Thomas Mueller of Germany and Brazilian Neymar for the coveted Golden Boot.

The speculation before the tournament was whether Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi could make the tournament their own.

Ronaldo is already on a beach somewhere in Portugal and while Messi has been in imperious form, Brazil 2014 will become synonymous with the performances of Rodriguez should he keep playing the way he is.

Colombians are clearly excited by him!
