Dubai: Varca Salcette FC got the better of Al Zuari Goa Velha 3-2 in a penalty shootout to win the Abu Dhabi Cup 2009 at an event held at the Dubai Sports for Special Needs ground last weekend.
After being tied to a goalless draw by the end of regulation time, the Varca Salcette lads proved better strikers after Al Zuari skipper Avalon Dalgado's kick was saved by the opponent's skipper.
However, Al Zuari's Camilo picked up the best goalkeeper prize and Wilton Goes was chosen as the most stylish player of the tournament.
Carmona Boys defeated CAC Cansaulim to win third place in the day-long tournament that attracted 22 teams from all over the UAE with sponsorship from Danny De Souza of Canacona Outsiders.
Omar Rashid Al Kharji from Dubai TV was the chief guest and presented the trophies to the winners and runners-up. After the presentation of trophies, Kennedy gave a vote of thanks.
