Abu Dhabi: Tickets for the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi, which features champion clubs from all six continental confederations, will go on sale from Tuesday, organisers of the competition announced at a press conference on Monday.

UAE Football League champions Al Wahda will be flying the flag on home soil when the seventh edition of the tournament kicks off on December 8, with the final scheduled on December 18.

European champions Inter Milan will be joined by CONCACAF champions Pachuca from Mexico and South American Champions Internacional at the tournament. Also confirmed is South Pacific champions Hekari United of Papua New Guinea. The Asian and African champions will be decided in November.

According to the organisers, barcode technology and e-tickets will be used for a sports event for the first time in the UAE, making it easy for fans to pay for and print their tickets.

The first Fifa Club World Cup competition took place in Brazil in 2000.

Last year’s final was won by Barcelona and attracted more than 43,000 fans.
