Decision to opt for Gunners over United in 2008 appears well-judged
London : Back in 2007, Sir Alex Ferguson was desperate to sign Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff City, the shy 16-year-old was reflecting carefully on some advice given by Terry Burton, Cardiff's assistant manager.
"I said to Aaron, ‘I don't know what's going to happen, but if you get the chance, consider Arsenal because of the way they play and the way you play'," said Burton.
Arsenal duly made their move in June 2008 and Ramsey was sold on Arsene Wenger's track record in developing young talent.
Now the decision appears well-judged, with 2010 already looking like it could be Ramsey's breakthrough year as one of the stars of the Premier League.
Ramsey's goal against Portsmouth was, in his own words, "my best moment so far in an Arsenal shirt". Having played all eight matches since the 3-0 defeat by Chelsea, he is quietly becoming established as a first-team regular.
