From Joao Felix to Simakan, foreign pros arrive to support Saudi club’s quest for glory
Dubai: Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with Al Nassr for two more years in a record deal, reaffirming his role as the central figure in the Saudi Pro Club’s rise since joining in 2023.
Newly appointed coach Jorge Jesus praised Ronaldo, calling him “the greatest human figure.”
The Portuguese manager, who took charge of the club earlier this month, acknowledged that Ronaldo was the main reason he accepted the role.
In addition to the manager, several star players will be joining Ronaldo in the pursuit of glory this season.
Gulf News takes a look at the foreign pros who could help bring silverware to the club:
From: Athletico Paranaense
This 26-year-old Brazilian keeper impressed back home before Al Nassr came calling. Already called up for Brazil, which speaks volumes about his talent. A solid shot-stopper who’s comfortable with the ball at his feet.
From: RB Leipzig
The French centre-back honed his skills in the Bundesliga. At 25, he’s at that perfect age — experienced yet still developing. Can also slot in at right-back when needed, which gives the coach tactical flexibility.
From: Manchester City
A marquee signing. Laporte won everything under Pep Guardiola at City. At 31, he still has plenty to offer and brings a winning mentality. However, there are whispers of a possible move back to Europe, with Athletic Club keen on signing him.
From: Inter Milan
A key figure in Croatia’s golden generation, Brozović played a major role in Inter’s Serie A triumph. At 32, he offers the perfect blend of energy and experience in midfield.
From: FC Porto
The Portuguese playmaker was a standout at Porto before his move to Al Nassr. Now 30, he can also operate from the wings. While he hasn’t exactly set the league alight, his creativity makes him the perfect foil for Ronaldo. There are rumours that he too might be on the move.
From: Bayern Munich
A Liverpool legend who surprised many with his move to Bayern — and again by signing with Al Nassr. At 33, he may not be at his peak, but he still shows up in big moments. Pure class.
From: Brazilian youth football
Just 20 years old, Wesley is one of those Brazilian youngsters with magic in his boots. Al Nassr are banking on his potential — sometimes these young players turn out to be game-changers.
From: Chelsea
Another 20-year-old Brazilian, bursting with pace. Signing young, hungry talents and pairing them with global icons is a smart strategy — and could pay off in the long term.
From: Manchester United
The man who changed everything. At 40, he’s still Cristiano bloody Ronaldo. His move put Saudi football on the global map. And he continues scoring like he’s still 25.
From: Chelsea
Al Nassr have just splashed £43.7 million to bring in this Portuguese talent on a two-year deal. At 25, he’s still trying to fulfil his massive potential. He has the flair and creativity to link beautifully with Ronaldo — and a point to prove after a string of underwhelming spells.
The transfer window isn’t over yet, and more moves could be in the pipeline. The million-dollar question remains: Can this team finally deliver the title?
