Dubai: Newly-appointed Al Nassr coach Jorge Jesus praised Cristiano Ronaldo saying he was the greatest human figure.

The Portuguese manager who joined Saudi club earlier this month acknowledged that he joined the club because of the five-time Ballon d’Or award winner.

“It's a sporting challenge. Ronaldo is different, even in biological age, which is why he's 40 and still playing. We both think very much alike outside of football,” Jesus told RTP's Primeira Pessoa.

“I am 70, but I don't feel it in my psychological and physical life. Ronaldo is a global figure. We don't know how to value Ronaldo in Portugal. He's the world's greatest human figure. He's the world's greatest celebrity. He's far beyond the world of football," he added.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been with Al Nassr since January 2023 after having extended his contract for two more years.

During this time, the Portuguese star has played 105 matches, scoring 93 goals and providing 19 assists. The new season of the Saudi Pro League begins on August 19, with Jesus' team starting off with a Super Cup match against Al Ittihad.
