Premier League manages an unwanted record

The departures of coaches Carlos Carvalhal and Paul Lambert from relegated Premier League clubs Swansea City and Stoke City respectively means management departures in the English top flight has reached a record 15 this season.

Swansea decided not to renew Carvalhal’s contract and Stoke let go of Lambert by “mutual consent.”

With Sam Allardyce at Everton and David Moyes at West Ham United already having packed their bags this week, it will mean more managerial merry-go-round madness over the summer.

The previous record was 13 in 2013-14 for a league season.

It has been said before but I’m going to say it again. How are a team and their players meant to settle into a cohesive unit when you keep changing their boss?

They won’t know if they are coming or going if the man they answer to and who picks the team keeps changing.

Give the guys a chance. Carvalhal only came in in December and Lambert arrived in January.

The other relegated club, West Bromwich Albion, have just removed the interim tag on Darren Moore and made him their new coach.

He managed three wins — including victories against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur — and two draws in six matches. Here’s hoping they give him more than six more months to make his mark.
