Oman's head coach calls on players to give their all

Muscat: Oman's head coach, Claude Le Roy, demanded his players play to their full capabilities in order to beat Saudi Arabia in the final match of the 19th Gulf Cup tonight.

"Saudi Arabia are a big team and to beat them we have to be at our best. Our players have to show their full capabilities and do their best to win the title," Le Roy told a press conference yesterday.

"Both teams are of almost equal standards and we respect the Saudi team as one of the biggest teams in Asia with many international, continental and regional titles but now is the time for Oman to win a title after failing twice in the last four years.

"The match will be a confrontation between the best attacking line-ups and the strongest defences in the tournament. Both teams scored high and conceded no goals. We have our means to face the Saudi strikers," Le Roy confirmed.

"Our line-up will combine young blood with experience and I do hope that my team will show its true worth," Le Roy concluded.

Meanwhile, Nasir Al Jawhar, the head coach of Saudi Arabia did not attend the conference and sent his assistant Luis, who said, "The match will be between the best two teams in the competition and it is important that our players do their best to win the title.

"We always play to win any championship in which we take part in, whether in the region or Asia and we know how to deal with the big teams and their fans."
