London: Premier League newcomers Huddersfield Town on Friday signed towering Belgian international striker Laurent Depoitre from Portuguese giants Porto in an undisclosed club record deal. The 28-year-old, who stands at 6ft 3 ins (1.9m) tall, penned a two-year deal and represents Huddersfield’s first signing since they secured promotion through the play-offs. “I am very happy that we have made Laurent our first signing of this summer window,” said coach David Wagner of a striker who played in the Champions League with Gent before he left for Porto in 2016. “He is a proper striker; one who has played for a very good Belgium side, featured in elite European competition and who has won domestic titles.”
