Abu Dhabi: Mubadala Development Company, the Abu Dhabi-based investment and development firm, will host the first edition of its "Fit for the Future Ramadan Football Challenge" between August 21 and 25, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).

The indoor tournament will provide a platform for young players to stay fit, get involved in the community and learn new football skills.

Registration for the tournament is now open to everyone aged 16 years and above.

"Mubadala is proud to launch the Fit for the Future Ramadan Football Challenge, which is part of our year-long programme of initiatives that encourage health and well-being among the local community," said Ameenah Taher, Mubadala's group communications manager.

Healthy lifestyle

"As an organisation, Mubadala is committed to promoting healthy and active lifestyles and this football tournament is just one way we can encourage members of our community to keep active during the holy month of Ramadan," she added.

For spectators and others not actively playing in the tournament, there will be numerous activities for families to get involved, including interactive games and competitions, and an opportunity to meet the stars of the UAE's national football team.

The winning team will receive an exclusive "Mubadala Football masterclass" with the UAE national team's coaches and players, including a tailor-made training programme for each player, as well as match day tickets to the UAE national team's games, and signed merchandise.

Donations to charity

Players can register as individuals or as teams, with each team consisting of a maximum of ten players.

Each player's Dh100 registration fee will be matched by Mubadala and donated to the Special Care Centre in Abu Dhabi.
