Dubai: McBoys defeated Monsters 2-0 to lift the inaugural Schuyler Memorial Football Tournament held at the Dubai Men’s College ground on Friday.
In a fast-paced final, it was Gauresh Kerkar who gave the McBoys an early lead, while Avelino Fernandes got his name on the scoresheet within a couple of minutes to seal the title.
Later in the Plate final, the Red Devils got the better of Lions 3-0 with Franky Barreto, Piety Gonsalves and Lynton D’Souza scoring for the winners.
Priya Pinto, wife of the late Schuyler, was the chief guest and presented the trophies to the winners.
The tournament was organised by friends and well-wishers in memory of late Schuyler, who passed away while playing football last February.
