Dubai: The Moroccan Community crashed to their first defeat, going down 0-2 to MBC in Group D of the preliminary round of the Shaikh Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan six-a-side indoor football tournament being played at the Al Shabab Club.
MBC downed the star-studded Moroccan Community in their group encounter late on Sunday to spoil their perfect record of three wins.
MBC now climb to the top of Group D with nine points, but with a better goal difference than the Moroccan Community.
Aramex also climbed to the top of Group A with a solitary goal win over winless Pocari Sweat in the night's first match. The all-important goal came from Hussain Mousa in the first half.
Other winners
FedEx gained their first point of the competition with a hard-fought 3-3 draw against Air Arabia ‘B' in a delayed Group B encounter, while Skyline College also entered the points bracket with a 2-2 result against Dubai Customs ‘B' in Group C.
Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) is at the top of Group B with nine points from three matches, while Group C is led by Fly Emirates with seven points.
The preliminary round matches will continue until tomorrow after which the top two teams from each of the four groups will make it to the knock-out quarter-finals.
The final will be played on Saturday.
