Mbappe reveals why Messi is the best: “He does everything right”

Kylian Mbappe has shared a fascinating insight into what it is like to train alongside Lionel Messi, recalling the experience during an appearance on the podcast The Bridge with Aurelien Tchouameni and Achraf Hakimi.

For two seasons at Paris Saint Germain, fans witnessed a star studded frontline of Mbappe, Messi and Neymar at the Parc des Princes. While the trio fell short of bringing the Champions League to Paris, the level of quality they produced, especially in training, left a lasting impression on Mbappe.

Mbappe, who has often spoken about Cristiano Ronaldo as his idol growing up, reflected on those PSG days with admiration for Messi, highlighting the Argentine’s unmatched technical level.

“Messi is ridiculous,” Mbappe said, when asked who impressed him the most in training.

He also explained why comparing Messi with Neymar is not straightforward.

“It’s not the same thing. Messi is like… he does everything right.”

Mbappe then shared a story from one of their finishing sessions in Paris.

“We were practicing finishing. Ney and I were at the top. Out of 10 shots, we would score six or seven. People would watch and say, ‘Wow, Kylian.’ But I was like, didn’t you see Leo?”

What followed left even Mbappe stunned.

“He took nine shots. He scored nine times. And it was the same goal every time.”

It was not just the accuracy, but the simplicity that amazed him.

“It was the end of training. He was a bit tired. He wasn’t even shooting, he was just passing the ball into the net. Once, twice, three, four, five times…”

At one point, Mbappe turned to the goalkeeper in disbelief.

“I looked at the keeper and said, ‘Didn’t you understand what he is doing?’ This is too much.”
