Dubai: Luxembourg’s BGL Ligue top-scorer Aleksandre Karapetian is looking for takers in the UAE Pro League next season.

Karapetian, who will turn 31 in December, is currently on A holiday with his family in Dubai. Earlier this week, he made an appearance as a special guest at the ongoing Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Sports Tournament. His 28 goals last season made him the top-scorer in Luxembourg’s BGL Ligue, a feat that helped his club Progres Niederkorn qualify for the Uefa Europa League.

“I think I have the adequate experience to play in the league here,” Karapetian told Gulf News in a chat at the NAS Sports Complex during the futsal semi-finals.

“I have achieved quite a bit in my career and now it is time to find myself a new challenge. I can see a stint in UAE football, search for something more inside me that will make me a better player,” he added.

Karapetian has been a member of the Armenian national team, while making his debut during the qualifying campaign of Euro 2016. In last year’s play-off rounds for the Uefa Europa League qualifiers, he was on target as Progres Niederkorn defeated the famed Glasgow Rangers in the first round. He first visited the UAE in 2017, during which time he even managed to watch a couple of matches from the UAE Pro League then.

“I must say I was pretty impressed with the standard, and yet I knew that I could fit in here as we are far physical in any of the professional leagues across Europe. I think I can fit in well here and contribute to any club that I play with,” the striker noted.

“Over a period of a few months, I have seen the changes here. I love the dynamics of this city and I think I can be a perfect fit at any of the Division One clubs,” he added.

At Progres Niederkorn, Karapetian has managed to forge a strong combination alongside left winger Emmanuel Francoise from France and local lad and central midfielder Olivier Thill. “But I feel now is the time to have a new challenge, and that challenge lies right here in the UAE,” he said.

“Perhaps things will be clear by the time we conclude our holiday here. I am certainly excited if I can be playing in the league here,” Karapetian added.
