Emirati coach Eid Baroot returns to coach newly-promoted Emirates

Former Al Wasl boss aims to stay in the top-flight next season

Abu Dhabi: Emirati coach Eid Baroot has signed a two-year deal to lead Emirates club in the Etisalat Pro-League following their return to the top-flight after a season in the amateur league.

Baroot, who previously played for the club before leading them to win the Super Cup three seasons ago, was in charge of Al Wasl in the second half of last season before resigning to take over his former team.

“Our main objective in the new season will be to stay with the top teams in the professional competition,” Baroot said. “We will be depending upon some of the young players from the club’s youth sector and it is obvious we will need a lot of hard work in order to stay with the top teams, bearing in mind the differences between our club and the other big and rich teams in the competition.

“I know the challenge is tough in front of me to achieve our goal, but I have never surrendered and I love challenges. I hope that we will find the support we need form our fans as we will field a number of young, inexperienced players who will need support to encourage them to do their best.”

Baroot said his team’s preparations for the new season will begin at a domestic training camp in Ras Al Khaimah from July 15 until the end of Ramadan, when they will travel to Munich, Germany, for an external training camp until August 29.

“We will play a number of friendly matches both in Germany and on our return. We will play some of our matches outside our ground, which will play host to the Fifa Under-17 World Cup,” he added.

The appointment of both Baroot and his compatriot, Dr. Abdullah Misfir at Al Dhafra, means that for the first time the Pro-League — soon to be renamed the Arab Gulf League — will start with two local coaches.
