Dubai: Eight aspiring footballers from the La Liga Academy have been scouted and selected to join the professional development team of the du La Liga High Performance Centre.
The players, ranging from 11 to 17 years were scouted from La Liga’s six locations across Dubai and Abu Dhabi and they will join the exclusive development centre delivering La Liga-standard footballers, while providing them a pathway to professional careers with La Liga clubs in Spain.
The players were chosen after they impressed their coaches and La Liga scouts over the past four weeks while demonstrating superior skills and physical fitness along with technical potential to become professional footballers in the future.
“In a short period of time, we are already identifying talented players across the UAE with the potential to become the future stars of football. With La Liga Academy’s world-class programme, we will coach them to the highest levels to fast track their journey towards professional careers nationally and internationally. Getting them scouted into the du La Liga High Performance Centre is the first step,” La Liga Academy Head Coach and former Real Madrid youth club coach David Iglesias related.
Scouted talents begin their training this month at the du La Liga HPC, under the supervision of former Malaga first team head coach Rafa Gil and a full team of La Liga Uefa pro-certified coaches. Each player will be given an individual development programme, designed to take them to the highest levels of physical, mental and emotional fitness. They will also hone their skills on the field through taking part in the nation’s leading football tournaments.
“As part of our scouting programme, we will also be exposing them during the Spain summer scouting camp to La Liga club scouts looking for outstanding players to join their clubs. Now, with the talents from La Liga Academy, we look forward to producing an even larger number of professional players from du La Liga HPC,” Gil said.
Earlier this year, Malaga FC selected U18 wingers Ahmad Salam and Yahya Iraqi and U16 striker Mehdi Elkhamlichi, whereas U18 player Mohammad Rajeh and captain Mohammad Bouherrafa were invited for trials at Cadiz FC and UD Almeria respectively.
In addition, five other du La Liga HPC players, including U16 defender Abhinav John and U18 striker Rami Hatem are on the radar of major La Liga clubs, including Barcelona FC.
Open to boys and girls from 4 to 18 years, La Liga Academy delivers the highest standard of Spanish football training, across six locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while providing a pathway to professional football careers as well as scholarships to top universities.
