Mo Salah winning Player of the Year is huge. Not only for Egyptians but for Arabs in general. Of course I’m so proud to see an Egyptian player do well and be loved by many people around the world as it finally sheds positive light on Muslims and Arabs. He definitely deserves it. As for the World Cup I honestly don’t think we will make it past the second round but crazier things have happened! So we are all counting on Salah.

As an Egyptian, I am very proud about Salah winning Player of the Year and the great season he’s having so far with Liverpool and the national team. It’s a very well deserved trophy he won last night, as he’s the English Premier League top scorer, which many consider the toughest league in the world. He has led his team to the Euro Champions League’s semi-final for the first time in a long time, and let’s not forget taking Egypt to the World Cup for the first time in 29 years. If he keeps up his form, we’re hoping he can take Egypt to the second round in the World Cup.

Mohammad Salah has become a source of pride for Egypt and the Arab world. I am very pleased to see how he is now considered to be an internationally acclaimed football player. As an Egyptian, I couldn’t be any prouder.

It’s quite unbelievable that he’s being compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and it’s not just Egyptians overreacting, it’s the whole world that’s doing so.

Football is probably the most loved sport in Egypt, and many watch or play it religiously. To see that one of our own is recognised globally as one of the best is a priceless gift, and it is an honour that it is someone who has firmly held on to his culture. The Egyptian king has given the Arab population something to be extremely proud of, and has stifled the rise of Islamophobia in the UK.

He deserves this award and nothing but success in his future.
